The Macomb Respite Home is located in Macomb Township, Michigan. The home is licensed as a 6 bed Adult Foster Care program that provides temporary placement for adults with developmental disabilities.
A unique service for families in Macomb County
The purpose of the respite home is to offer a break to families caring for a dependent adult with a developmental disability. Through the Macomb County Community Mental Health office, eligible families receive up to 24 days of respite care each year. The home operates 365 days annually.
The home is fully handicap accessible. The home is staffed to meet to meet care and supervision needs of the consumers, in accordance with state requirements for employee screening and ongoing training.
While staying at the respite home, consumers are encouraged to participate in activities of daily living and community outings such as shopping, dining out, bowling, dances, movies. Each individual’s personal interests are considered in planning activities.
The respite home will provide transportation to work, day program, school or activities in a full size van equipped with a wheelchair lift.
Respite services are authorized as part of the “Person Centered Plan” developed with the county mental health agency. No fees are required if services are first authorized as part of the service plan.
