Licensed Adult Foster Care Homes

Providing a high level of personalized care in a warm, home-like setting

MRO currently operates 15 licensed homes with locations in Macomb, Oakland, Monroe and Washtenaw counties. Eligible individuals are adults with developmental disabilities and in some cases, mental illness.

MRO’s licensed AFC homes serve up to six individuals at each location. Each home is individually licensed by the State of Michigan for Adult Foster Care and is also certified to provide “Specialized Residential Services” by the state Department of Community Health.

Services are provided on a 24 hour, seven day weekly schedule with staffing provided according the care needs of the home residents.

Within a structured daily routine, residents receive personalized care, medical services and community activities, all based on their individual needs and interests. A “Person Centered Plan” is established for each individual, outlining their service needs and goals. This plan is designed around the interests of the individual with input from their family and friends as requested.

Each home provides transportation to medical services, shopping and community activities. Many of the homes are barrier free in design and can accommodate wheel chairs or other special needs.

Fees

Residents are responsible for payment of the monthly room and board fee. This rate is revised annually by the state DHHS. Normally, this rate is covered by the resident’s SSI or Social Security Disability benefit. The 2018 rate is 863.50 per month.

Admissions

Admissions to all homes are coordinated through the Community Mental Health Agency in each county. For more information on referrals for admission see our contacts page within this website.
