Hickory Grove Respite Home

In 2010, MRO assumed the management of the Hickory Grove Respite Home located in Bloomfield Township, Michigan. This home is licensed as a 6 bed Adult Foster Care program that provides temporary placement for adults with developmental disabilities.

A great opportunity for families in Oakland County

The purpose of the respite home is to offer a break to families caring for a dependent adult with a developmental disability. Through the Macomb Oakland Regional Center, eligible families receive authorizations for respite services based on individual family needs.

Hickory Grove operates 365 days annually and is fully handicap accessible. The home is staffed to meet care needs of the consumers, in accordance with state requirements for employee screening and training.

While staying at the respite home, consumers are encouraged to have fun while participating in activities of daily living and community outings.  Each individual’s personal interests are considered in planning activities.

The respite home will provide transportation to work, day program, school or activities in a full size van equipped with a wheelchair lift.

Respite services are authorized as part of the “Person Centered Plan” developed with the Macomb Oakland Regional Center.  No fees are charged if the respite services are authorized in the service plan.

The respite home may also provide services on a private pay basis to individuals outside of the MORC service system, or as an extension to their MORC authorized days.

To initiate services or for more information on eligibility, please contact the Macomb Oakland Regional Center – Respite Coordinator at 248-276-8020.

If you are currently enrolled in services through the Macomb Oakland Regional Center and have a respite authorization, please call the home directly at 248-332-8750.  Questions regarding private pay arrangements should also be directed here.

We look forward to hearing from you.
